Keep the person in the promise
A commitment is a cord between you and another person. Record what you owe them and what they owe you, with notes and next steps attached. A possibility that names no one stays an action intention until it becomes a promise.
Close the loop as Kept, Delivered, or Released. Letting something go is an honest decision, and its history stays with it.
- Capture a line in the What happened box; link the person it is for.
- Use Show on to decide when a commitment asks for your attention.
- Keep a real Due date when one exists, without an overdue pile.
- Move work with Now, Soon, or Later. See days on Today and repeated pushes.
Give today a manageable shape
Today brings together your calendar, daily Practice, Workbench, open commitments, people to reach out to, daily note, and What happened. It is a place to work and write throughout the day.
The Workbench has exactly three slots for the cards you choose to work on now. Put one back to make room. The bench syncs across devices, while each card stays in its original lists.
- Connect an iCalendar feed and take notes on meetings.
- Bring stalled work back into view, or mark a commitment Feels stuck.
- Record time and energy to learn what your commitments actually cost.
Remember where you left things
A person's card gathers what you owe them, what they owe you, contact details, notes, and the history of your time together. Meet, Call, and Message record real contact.
Reach out brings people forward by their orbit, a day you chose to reconnect, or an approaching birthday. It tells you how long it has been. People in your records do not need accounts and cannot see your private notes.
- Keep birthdays with or without a year; with a year, Boblo shows their age.
- Gather a family, team, or community into a mesh.
- Log contact with a mesh and it counts for each member.
- Add notes, time, and energy to a Reach out touch without closing the editor while you write.
Let the plan grow as you learn
One promise often reveals the next. → Next keeps a commitment and creates its next step. Branch adds a step while the original stays open. On a closed commitment, → Next makes the step that comes after it.
Related commitments gather into a braid. Add first moves, turn a checklist into steps, or arrange a numbered sequence that brings forward the next action. A braid can hold commitments to several people working toward one outcome.
- Use an Estimate to think through a commitment before acting.
- Run Check next actions on a braid to find work that needs a clearer first move.
- Keep notes, discoveries, and the history of kept and released promises with the work.
Try a change. Learn from the run.
Pacts are small experiments with Future You. Choose a hypothesis, a cadence, and a length of time. Practice appears on Today, with room for notes, time, and energy.
At the review, read what happened and choose Persist, Pivot, or Pause. There are no streaks, scores, or a perfect run to protect. The four lanes are Soul, Body, Craft, and Realm.
Keep knowledge close to the work
Write connected Markdown cards with links, checklists, pictures, and your own fields. Shelves gather notes you want to keep; templates give you a starting point for things you write often.
Quick search finds words across cards and their context, including names and aliases. Smart Find lets you describe what you remember when the exact words escape you. A sealed section keeps sensitive text separately encrypted and out of search and AI reads.
Bring an assistant into the same record
Connect Claude or ChatGPT through Boblo's MCP connector. Ask what you owe today, look up a person's history, capture what happened, or work through the next actions in a braid.
An assistant uses Boblo's own rules, and its writing is marked so you can see where it came from. Each connector has its own revocable key.
Keep your records with you
Boblo keeps records on your devices and saves as you work. Encrypted sync carries them between Mac, iPhone, and Android; the relay cannot read them. The desktop app also keeps readable card copies and daily snapshots.
Export a readable backup from the desktop app. AI access is a separate choice: a connected assistant can read the records it works with, and optional cloud search sends the content needed for that search. Sealed sections stay excluded.
